Sustainability and Circular Economy - New Skills in Adult Education
An Active Yourope trainer attended the Erasmus+ course “EcoTeaching” in Alicante, dedicated to circular economy and green education.
Asociația Active Yourope from Craiova was represented by one of its trainers at the international course “EcoTeaching: Circular Economy and Green Practices”, held in Alicante, Spain, between 14 and 18 April 2025, under the Erasmus+ programme (project no. 2024-1-RO01-KA121-ADU-000230728). The main theme of this Erasmus+ mobility was education for sustainability and the circular economy in adult education, helping to develop skills relevant to a green and responsible future.
The programme included introductory sessions on integrating sustainability into education and interactive workshops dedicated to green teaching strategies, planning sustainable actions and developing individual plans for implementing the circular economy in educational activities. The trainer who represented Asociația Active Yourope took part in practical activities such as themed nature walks, environmental observation, waste-reduction and recycling workshops, and the exploration of innovative digital solutions and green technologies.
An important part of the course was project-based learning. Within this framework, lesson plans with an ecological theme and circular business models were designed, exercising critical and entrepreneurial thinking. Case studies and the use of digital tools offered a practical perspective on how the principles of the circular economy can be integrated into education and the community. Dissemination activities also strengthened communication skills, by presenting the concepts and methods learned to the other participants.
This Erasmus+ experience helped deepen the concepts of sustainability, develop strategic-planning and project-management skills, and strengthen intercultural collaboration. The mobility provided an updated view of the role of sustainability education in shaping a responsible and inclusive society.
The results of the mobility will be integrated into the education and training activities run by Asociația Active Yourope Craiova, with the aim of promoting the circular economy, green education and ecological responsibility. In this way, the organisation reaffirms its mission to contribute, through international training programmes, to the development of sustainability education in Romania and to building a more sustainable society.
