Digital education requires an adaptation in teaching techniques, the continuous engagement of student attention, and a distinct approach to evaluation compared to traditional classroom settings.

The aim of the training course is to equip teachers with the necessary tools to guide students in navigating the complex media landscape.
It enables a structured method for enhancing digital competences among educators who are engaging with students, with a focus on understanding media literacy in relation to the challenge of disinformation.

This training course is designed to create a comprehensive and effective training program that enables teachers to become adept in media literacy education, thereby preparing their students to be critical and informed media consumers and creators.

Methodology

The methodology for this course is highly interactive, with a focus on collaborative learning and critical engagement with content. It includes also a mix of learning environments such as in-person sessions, interactive workshop where teachers analyse various media messages using media education tools, case studies, in role-playing exercises and multimedia resources to cater to different learning styles.

Assessment of learning could include practical demonstrations of skills, reflective writing, and contributions to group discussions. The aim is to equip teachers with both the understanding and the practical skills to teach media literacy effectively and to navigate the complex media landscape themselves.

Learning outcomes

  • Define media literacy and its importance in the modern information landscape, including the influence of media on attitudes, emotions, and behaviors.
  • Master essential tools used in media education for analyzing and interpreting media messages and deconstructing media content, especially misinformation.
  • Enhance teachers’ critical thinking skills to evaluate media credibility, check for biases, distinguish between opinion and fact, and assess source reliability.
  • Design and implement media literacy materials and activities for classroom use, integrating them into existing curricula.
  • Equip teachers to guide students in being responsible media consumers and creators.
  • Share effective strategies and explore obstacles related to media literacy with peer professionals, promoting ongoing professional development.

Certificates

A certificate of participation in the course will be given to all participants. A Europass mobility certificate will be granted if the participant requests it.

Course Fee

The course fee is 80 Euros per participant per day. This fee does not cover some expenses like accommodation or travel etc. Costs covering enrolment fees for staff mobility format ‘Courses and training’. (Source: Erasmus+ Program Guide)
