Erasmus+ Job Shadowing in Çanakkale: Digital Inclusion and Non-Formal Methods in Adult Education
Two Active Yourope representatives took part in an Erasmus+ job shadowing in Çanakkale on digital inclusion and non-formal methods.
Asociația Active Yourope’s participation in Erasmus+ mobilities continues to contribute to developing the professional skills of the organisation’s members and to strengthening the quality of its adult-education activities. Under the Erasmus+ Accreditation in adult education, two representatives of the association took part in an Erasmus+ job shadowing activity in Çanakkale, Türkiye, held between 16 and 21 February 2026, under project 2025-1-RO01-KA121-ADU-000339236.
The mobility aimed to observe relevant practices in adult education, with a focus on digital inclusion, non-formal learning methods, support for disadvantaged adults and the development of educational activities adapted to the community’s needs. The activity offered the opportunity to analyse how the host organisation designs and delivers learning programmes for adults, through collaboration with local partners and the active involvement of learners.
In the first part of the mobility, participants took part in orientation sessions presenting the host organisation, its target groups, its local partnerships and the working methods used in its educational activities. These sessions allowed a better understanding of how adult education can be built starting from the real needs of the community, not just from theoretical content or standardised programmes.
An important element of the programme was observing activities dedicated to digital inclusion. Methods were analysed through which adults with low digital skills can be supported to use online services, basic digital tools and accessible forms of digital communication. The emphasis was on clear explanations, practical exercises, a pace adapted to each learner and connecting digital learning to concrete everyday situations.
The mobility also included observing non-formal methods used in adult education. Through group activities, practical workshops, interactive tasks and exercises based on experiential learning, the participant analysed ways in which adult learners can be actively involved in the learning process. These methods help increase motivation, confidence and participation, especially for people who have previously had limited or difficult educational experiences.
Another relevant focus was observing strategies for working with disadvantaged adults. The activities and professional discussions highlighted the importance of inclusive communication, individualised support and creating a safe, open and friendly learning environment. The participant analysed the barriers that can limit adults’ access to education, such as a lack of confidence, limited access to resources, social exclusion or a lack of positive learning experiences.
The programme also included field visits and discussions on cooperation with local actors involved in adult education and community development. These activities highlighted the role of local partnerships in creating more accessible and more relevant educational opportunities for learners. By comparing the practices observed with the activities carried out by Asociația Active Yourope, examples of good practice were identified that can be adapted to local contexts in Romania.
The experience contributed to developing educational observation and analysis skills, strengthening intercultural communication abilities and improving the capacity to design activities for adults with different needs and levels of preparation.
The results of this mobility will be put to use in Asociația Active Yourope’s future activities, especially in adult education, digital inclusion and non-formal learning. The practices observed will support the development of activities that are more accessible, more participatory and better adapted to beneficiaries, helping diversify the association’s educational offer.
Through this Erasmus+ mobility, Asociația Active Yourope continues its mission to promote lifelong learning, social inclusion and European cooperation. The job shadowing experience in Çanakkale was a valuable opportunity for professional exchange and for strengthening the organisation’s capacity to respond to the educational needs of adults in the community.
