The Jump Start in Adult Education in a European Context project is delivered by Asociația Active Yourope and funded through the Erasmus+ programme, action KA122-ADU - short-term projects for the mobility of learners and staff in adult education.
Active Yourope provides education and training in civic education, social inclusion, financial and entrepreneurial education, working with vulnerable groups. Through this project, seven members and trainers took part in three training courses and a job-shadowing across Europe, bringing the association’s teaching practices up to European standards.

Building on the association’s ambition to grow into a resource centre for adult and youth training, its leadership identified the need for trainers to take part in European mobilities focused on concrete needs: insufficient digital skills, the need to improve teaching strategies in social inclusion and civic education, a more diverse curriculum, and a wider partner network and set of management tools.
Project objectives
- Improve the digital skills of trainers and members, with two people attending European training courses over the project’s 12 months.
- Develop transversal competences, with three trainers attending European mobilities dedicated to new teaching strategies for educating vulnerable groups.
- Strengthen management skills and cooperation with European partners in adult education, with two members taking part in a job-shadowing.
Activities and mobilities
Through the training courses and the European job-shadowing, the association’s members gained new tools for social inclusion and new ways of teaching all learners effectively, along with new non-formal education, mediation and negotiation techniques to counter the exclusion of people with fewer opportunities. The trainers became familiar with innovative methodologies for teaching and supporting the integration of people with fewer opportunities, becoming active promoters of similar new initiatives in turn.
Results
Following the project, the association updated its strategy and developed a set of courses and materials: “eLearning content in adult education”, “Elements of active citizenship”, an updated “Social entrepreneurship” course, and the guide “Methods of social inclusion”.
